Grapes to treat Cough

Grapes is one of the most effective home remedies for treating cough. Grape juice helps to tone up the lungs and helps relieve cough.

Grapes act as an expectorant also.  It helps loosen cough and mucus. 

Grapes are also rich in Vitamin C which helps strengthen your immune system. Add it regularly to your diet to stay away from cough.



Mix grape juice with some water and honey and drink it to fight cough in a few days.

It is important to make fresh grape juice. Using bottled grape juice with added sugar will have provide you with these health benefits. Instead it will aggravate your condition. So always use freshly squeezed grape juice for this home remedy.

Eucalyptus for Congestion

Add few drops of eucalyptus oil to your steam inhaler. This helps open up the congested air ways and helps you breath better when you are having a cold.
 

Tamarind for Cold Relief

Tamarind is an effective home remedy for common cold. Extract the pulp from tamarind and make a soup by adding pepper, garlic and salt to it. Drink this to get relief from cold.

Orange Juice for Cold

Ginger Juice for Cold and Cough

Ginger juice provides excellent relief for cough and cold.
Take a piece of fresh ginger and clean it thoroughly. Peel the skin. Use a small grater to grate the ginger. Squeeze the grated ginger to extract juice from it. Mix fresh ginger juice with honey and take a tablespoon every few hours.
 

Tulsi for Cold Relief

Tulsi also known as Holy Basil is used commonly in traditional Indian medicine to cure common cold and cough.
 


Take a few leaves of fresh tulsi and wash it clean. Boil some water to a sauce pan and add the tulsi leaves to it. Simmer and keep it covered for 5 minutes. Turn off the stove and let the leaves steep for 10 minutes. Drink the warm tea while chewing on the tulasi leaves in it to get good relief from cold and cough.

Garlic for Cold

Garlic contains antiseptic and antispasmodic properties. The oils in garlic help open up the respiratory passages and is very effective in the treatment of common cold. It helps break down the congestion caused by common cold. Garlic helps to flush out the toxins from your system.
 


Add lot of garlic to make a your favorite soup and sip this warm soup to get immediate relief. You can also add garlic to milk and boil it together for a few minutes. Drink this warm milk before going to bed to get relief from cold.

Lemons for Cold

Lemons are rich in Vitamin C and is an important home remedy for common cold.  The Vitamin C in lemon juice helps increase body resistance and reduces toxicity in the body.
 


Add lot of lemons to your daily diet to boost your immune system and prevent common cold or drink it when you have a cold to shorten the duration of the cold.

Pineapple Juice for Cold

Mint Juice for Congestion

Mint juice can help relive congestion caused by common cold.
 


Take a few leaves of mint. Wash and clean them thoroughly. Use a mortar and pestle to crush the mint leaves and extract juice from them. Drink a tablespoon of this juice every 4 hours to break the congestion caused by cold.

Warm Turmeric Milk for Cough

Take a cup of milk and boil it. Add 2 pinches of turmeric powder to this hot milk and mix thoroughly.
Bring this milk to the temperature which you can drink. Keep it at the warmest temperature you can drink.
 


Sip this warm milk before going to bed to get good relief from cough and get a good nights sleep.

Ginger Tea for Cough

Take a two inch piece of ginger. Wash it clean and remove the skin. Using the back of the knife is an easy way to peel ginger.
 


Heat about 2 cups of water in a sauce pan. Cut the ginger into small pieces. Add ginger to the boiling water. Allow it to boil and simmer for 10 minutes. Turn off the stove and allow the ginger tea to steep for 5 minutes.

Strain the tea and add a teaspoon of honey. Drink this warm tea to sooth away your cough.

Honey and Lemon Remedy for Cough

Take a juicy lemon. Extract the juice from it. You can keep it in the microwave for a few seconds to extract the juice from the lemon easily.
 


Take a tablespoon of the lemon juice and mix it with a teaspoon of honey.

Drink this twice or thrice a day to get relief from cough.
